This morning after my run I had to face up to something I’d been denying for a while. My name is Ellie and I have IT band issues.
Damn!! I have made it this far without injury (I know, don’t hate me), but since June every time I finish running, my left IT band rears it’s ugly little head and shouts “haha” like that guy in the Simpsons. Like an idiot, I didn’t do much to fix it, but now I’m going to have to give it some TLC. I’m going to try some of these stretches, and if that doesn’t work, tear my hair out and become hostile with family, a la the diagram in Gilly’s post. Anyone got any other hints???
Today’s run was 6.5 miles around the river Wear. The first half was at 4.57km pace, but the second half was slower thanks to…. well nothing. Apart from my IT band. I’m getting back into my running mojo after all that pole. It was my perfect running weather – overcast, but warm.
After the run, SB and I went into Durham for coffee at my favourite place: Flat White. It has really cool mis-matched crockery, tables made from sewing machine stands, and is a hipster-magnet.
I’m one of those embarrassing customers that greets the staff like she personally knows them, and I visit at least 3 times a weekend. When I worked at Starbucks I felt sorry for these guys. But now I am one – and I don’t care. Just give me that coffee and a chance to hang out with my fellow hipsters. Who are not 8 years younger than me.
Then I went to a dress rehearsal for Spectacular Spectacular. My dance school is taking part in an all-singing, all-dancing spectacular as part of a local talent show. I am back stage mum, but today was also promoted to playing The Duke from Moulin Rouge at the end: I am particularly excited about the moustache. I don’t think it’s too much a stretch of the imagination:
Hope you all had a good Sunday! Anyone do anything exciting?
